Raising Awareness of RSV as part of your vaccine preventable respiratory diseases in Canada

Older adults and those with chronic conditions are most at risk for serious complications from vaccine preventable respiratory diseases (VPRDs) such as respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). RSV causes over 3.4 million hospitalizations and 100,000 deaths globally each year, yet awareness remains low, especially regarding its impact on older adults. Health Canada has approved an RSV vaccine for those 60 and older, however, limited awareness and advocacy hinder vaccination efforts.

To address gaps in awareness of RSV in Canada and build capacity amongst like-minded organizations, the International Federation on Ageing (IFA) is conducting a national survey of non-governmental organizations (NGOs), patient and professional organizations and civil society (CSOs) involved with older and at-risk adult populations in Canada. The survey aims to improve awareness of RSV, enhance prevention efforts like vaccination among vulnerable groups, and support coordinated advocacy efforts.

Methods
As a member of a non-governmental organization (NGO), civil society organization or patient/professional association working with older or at-risk adults in Canada, you are invited to complete the survey. This survey takes approximately 15 minutes to complete and comprises 16 multiple choice questions on awareness of RSV, vaccination and efforts to support advocacy amongst older and at-risk Canadians.
